Company Overview: We are a leading manufacturing company specializing in the packaging industry. Our commitment to excellence drives us to seek a purchasing agent (buyer) who will play a pivotal role in our operations.

Position Summary: As a buyer for Shibuya Hoppmann, you will be responsible for handling all aspects of parts purchasing (from sourcing suppliers, creating RFQ’s, purchase order and receipt of the goods.)  Your role will involve efficient communication with suppliers, accurate pricing determination, and ensuring timely delivery of parts to meet our customers’ schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place Purchase Orders: Place orders with parent company and commercial businesses to satisfy the orders placed by our customers as well as internal requests.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with our suppliers; help to ensure the timely delivery of parts and materials and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • RFQ to our Suppliers: Request pricing from our parent company (Shibuya) as well as other suppliers.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with inventory control to optimize stock levels, minimizing excess inventory while ensuring materials are readily available for production.
  • Vendor Selection: Source new suppliers as needed, evaluating capabilities, pricing, and reliability to support business needs.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels. Generate reports as required by management to analyze purchasing trends and cost savings opportunities when requested.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma required; additional education in business administration or supply chain management would be advantageous.
  • Experience: Experience in parts ordering, purchasing, or related roles within a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with ERP systems preferred. (Familiarity with EPICOR is a big plus).
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and order processing.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
    • Knowledge of supply chain processes and inventory management principles.
    • Be responsible and accountable as well as flexible with internal requests and customer needs.

Office hours: 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday
